Urgent Call for Support: Assistance for Evacuated First Nations Families in Edmonton

Jun 4, 2025

Due to the ongoing wildfires in Northern Alberta, more than 1,400 members of the Peerless Trout and Loon River First Nations have been evacuated and are now staying in hotels and temporary accommodations throughout the Edmonton area.

While emergency services are addressing basic needs like food and shelter, there is an urgent call to action to support the emotional and social well-being of these families — including Elders, children, and youth — during this incredibly difficult time.

The Kee Tas Kee Now Tribal Council is asking for assistance from businesses, organizations, and community members. Support can include:

  • Recreational and cultural activities for children, youth, and Elders

  • Donated venue space for community gatherings and wellness programming

  • Gift cards or financial support for incidental expenses

  • In-kind donations such as hygiene kits, books, games, and comfort items

If you or your organization are in a position to help, please contact:
